It's officially over for Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth as the two have finalized their divorce 13 months after tying the knot.
On Tuesday (January 28), legal documents obtained by PEOPLE show that the former couple were officially declared single. Additionally, there was no "community property assets or liabilities" created during their marriage and neither party is seeking spousal support. As for the reason for their split, unsurprisingly, the documents cited "irreconcilable differences."
Back in December, a source told the celebrity gossip outlet that the two, who met in 2009 on the set of The Last Song, reached a settlement and Cyrus was "relieved" about the mutual understanding. "She just wants to move on," the insider added. Meanwhile, a rep for Cyrus explained that the split was simply due to the two "changing as partners." "Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” the rep told in a statement at the time. "Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy."
Cyrus and Hemsworth got married in December 2018, while the latter filed for divorce months later. Since then, the two have moved onto new romantic interests, with Cyrus letting her relationship with Cody Simpson flourish in-public and on social media, as well as Hemsworth's new coupling with Gabriella Brooks.
