Queen Elizabeth's Dog Vulcan Has Passed Away

Queen Elizabeth is reportedly mourning the loss of one of her beloved dogs. Vulcan, a mix between a corgi and a dachshund, passed away at Windsor Castle, where Her Majesty and Prince Philip have been staying amid the ongoing pandemic.

As many know, Queen Elizabeth is known for her love dogs, but especially corgis. Vulcan was one of her remaining two dogs. Candy, another dorgi mix, is now the monarch's last living canine companion.

According to People, Queen Elizabeth received her first pet corgi, named Susan, as a gift from her father when she was 18-years-old. In 2018, Her Majesty's purebred corgi, Willow, who was descended from Susan, passed away. At the time, Queen Elizabeth still had one other purebred corgi named Whisper, as well as Vulcan and Candy. Sadly, Whisper died shortly after Willow.

At 94-years-old, Queen Elizabeth reportedly doesn't plan to bring any more dogs into her family. When she lost one of her signature breed corgis back in 2012, Her Majesty told royal horse trainer Monty Roberts that she "didn’t want to have any more young dogs." Speaking with Vanity Fair, Roberts said: “She didn’t want to leave any young dog behind. She wanted to put an end to it.”

The sad news of Vulcan's passing comes just two weeks after Prince William and Kate Middleton revealed their family dog Lupo had died. Lupo was a 9-year-old cocker spaniel. While Queen Elizabeth hasn't commented publicly on the loss of Vulcan, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge release a brief statement reading: "Very sadly last weekend our dear dog, Lupo, passed away. He has been at the heart of our family for the past nine years and we will miss him so much."
