Sean "Diddy" Combs could have his key to the city of New York revoked if high-ranking politicians have their way.

The calls for Mayor Eric Adams to rescind Diddy's award have grown even louder after devastating footage of the music mogul beating his ex-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel was leaked last week. Since then, numerous city council members have changed their tune about Diddy less than a year after he was awarded with the key to New York City. In a statement provided to TMZ on Tuesday, May 21, Council Members Sandy Nurse and Shaun Abreu urged Mayor Adams to take the symbolic key away from the beleaguered artist.

"Mayor Adams should immediately revoke Diddy’s key to the city," Nurse said. "As an abuser, Diddy lost his right to have such an honor and should be held accountable for his actions. Mayor Adams should set the example and take it away."

"Mayor Adams should snatch back Diddy's key and slam the door behind him," Abreu added. "We won't be missing you."

Prior to the council members' statements, Mayor Adams recently spoke about the possibility of revoking the honor from Diddy. During his weekly media gathering on Tuesday, he said his office is "disgusted" by the disturbing footage and they are currently reviewing the correct way to remove the key from Combs' possession.

"There's a process," Adams said per NBC's New York affiliate. There's a panel, they're going to look over it, they're going to make a recommendation to me and we're going to take the next steps. My heart goes out to the young lady who was assaulted. All of us are disgusted at the video of seeing something of that magnitude. But we want to take the process. We've never removed the key from anyone before. We want to make sure we do it right because now we're going to set precedence and we want to make sure we're going to do it right. And I was very clear, we're going to see what the next steps are and we're not going to get ahead of ourselves."

There's currently no timeline for his decision. As far as a replacement goes, Council Member Justin Brannan proposed for the honor to go to Nas.
