6ix9ine Speaks Out After Being Sentenced To Prison For Probation Violation

6ix9ine aims to focus on his health while he serves out his prison sentence next year.

On Friday, December 5, U.S. District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer ruled that the New York-born rapper will serve three months in prison after he was found guilty of violating the terms of his probation. According to the New York Post, the judge had originally planned to give the rapper, born Daniel Hernandez, a longer sentence. However, he was moved by Hernandez's lengthy speech during his sentencing hearing in New York City, so he decided to reduce it to 90 days.

“He keeps blowing it,” Judge Engelmayer said during the hearing. “From time to time your actions suggest that you believe that ordinary rules don’t apply to you."

The ruling came down after the judge found the rapper guilty of violating the terms of his five-year probation on at least three occasions in the past year. It began after he pleaded guilty to using drugs and traveling to Las Vegas in November 2024. He was sentenced to 45 days in prison and an additional year of supervised release. A few months later, he was charged with possession of cocaine and MDMA after police raided his home in Palm Beach County, Fla. Then, in August, he reportedly assaulted a man inside a Florida mall.

After the hearing, 6ix9ine's attorney, Lance Lazzaro, agreed that the judge's decision was a "fair sentence." The judge agreed to allow Hernandez to serve his sentence at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, which is where he served his previous prison bid. As he walked out of the courthouse, TMZ captured the controversial artist's reaction to his sentencing. He said he would use the time to lose some weight by only eating a box of Oreo cookies a day.
