The Jersey Girls are embracing the magic of the season with their nostalgic holiday release “Like Snow, Like Snow.” For years, the trio has hoped to create a full holiday record, and this single marks the beginning of what they believe will become a long tradition of Christmas music. The song itself arrived in a way the group describes as holiday magic. Writer Darrin Mazzilli was searching for a Mariah style vocalist for a Christmas song he had written. When the Jersey Girls submitted their audition, they joked that instead of one diva, he could have three. Mazzilli immediately loved the idea. Soon after, the group teamed up with Grammy nominated producer John Hill as well as Los Angeles producers Marius Feder and Alex Parker, and the song quickly came to life.
The sound and spirit of “Like Snow, Like Snow” is shaped by a deep love of 90s Christmas nostalgia. The trio grew up with the films, songs and holiday traditions of that decade. They describe memories of Home Alone, the classic sound of “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Christmas trees decorated with thin silver tinsel and long evenings spent with family before phones and computers became constant distractions. As they put it, there is something about the holidays that makes people want to revisit the wonder of childhood, and the 90s remain the era that best captures that feeling for them.
The single reflects the Jersey Girls signature musical style. Their sound is a blend of strong diva vocals, soaring harmonies and a mix of pop and soulful energy. They specialize in big belting moments inspired by artists like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Tina Turner and Celine Dion. Fans will also hear special touches in the production, including more than twenty layered vocals in the final chorus, arranged in a style reminiscent of ABBA. The track also features glittering guitar licks and bells which producer Marius Feder calls Christmas ear candy.
Although the group is known for its high energy live performances, recording a Christmas song in late summer was more challenging than expected. They first recorded the track in a major Chicago studio at the end of summer 2024. After listening back, they felt the performance did not fully reflect the holiday spirit. To recapture the Christmas feeling, the trio spent several days watching old Christmas movies, drinking hot chocolate and wearing holiday pajamas. They then recorded the song again in a home studio with John Hill, and the final version was completed in a single night.
Chicago also plays a role in the single. The group is waiting for the first major snowfall to film a 90s rom com inspired music video for the song, planned for release this season or next.
The Jersey Girls hope that “Like Snow, Like Snow” becomes a seasonal favorite and part of listeners' yearly traditions. They already have more holiday music in the works and are preparing a new holiday show featuring live musicians and festive arrangements. Above all, they hope the single brings listeners joy and a sense of holiday magic.
