Jessie Reyez's new album, Before Love Came To Kill Us, may not come out till March 27th, but that didn't stop us from getting her into Z100 to talk about it!
“I make music selfishly, the fact that people connect with it after is a beautiful coincidence," Reyez explains to Maxwell in the Z100 studios. At 28-years-old, Reyez has already been nominated for her first Grammy in 2020 for Best Urban Contemporary Album for her album Being Human in Public. She has also co-written songs like Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa's hit One Kiss as well as Sam Smith's song Promises.
Despite all her success, Reyez stays humble by keeping her old name tag from when she worked. "I have to make sure I’m reminded because it’s easy to become accustomed. Every time I complain when I’m tired I go back to it."
